The task of the variator, rollers and top plate combination is to maintain peak RPM power during acceleration right up to the point where the pulleys become fully extended and run out of gearing. Our Yuminashi designed variator hub, steel back ramp, spacer washer and top plate  performs the task of maximizing drive, giving a powerful wave of acceleration over the entire speed range, an increase in power and terminal speed and lowering peak revs to aid engine reliability. If using a big bore kit the choice can be made to leave out the spacer washer allowing the drive belt to rise higher on the drive pulley .This is not advised on the standard engine due to requiring the additional torque a large bore kit provides to pull the gearing.
